New platform content: ‘Giving Presentations’ learning module
The Persona Life Skills online learning platform now includes a new teacher-facilitated learning module, 'Giving Presentations', in which students learn social-emotional life skills to help them prepare for and deliver effective and engaging presentations, either in person or online.

In the Persona Life Skills social-emotional online learning platform, 'Giving Presentations' is a new 60 min teacher-facilitated learning module, where students learn the differences between school and workplace presentations, gain tips for giving presentations at work, and learn to adapt to their audience.
This new module is part of a growing library of modules covering different career and work life challenges, including job choices, getting along with colleagues, and leadership, among others.
Students are taken on a journey through dealing with presentation nerves, preparing for presentations, and how to present effectively – in-person and online. They are guided to consider their own adaptability level, and think about how this may affect their presentation skills.
Questions and activities in this module help students develop three social-emotional life skills, through a personality insights lens:
- Speaking Formally – Speaking Formally to others, eg. giving a presentation or in an interview
- Self-confidence – Having trust in myself, regardless of what others may think
- Stress Management – Managing my stress in different situations
In the 'Get Your Bearings' warm-up, students consider how they feel when giving presentations and how they can manage any stress. Tips are provided on creating an impactful presentation to their future work colleagues or customers.
In the 'Explore' knowledge acquisition section, students review practical steps they can take – both non-technical and technical – when preparing for and delivering online presentations. Using knowledge of their own Adaptability level, they then identify potential growth areas that will support their future presentation success.
As students reach the 'Viewpoint' plenary at the end of the module, they are asked to reflect on what strategies they have learnt to help them with giving presentations in the workplace, whether in person or online. This includes looking back at presentation experiences in school and considering how they could adapt when giving presentations in the future.
Giving Presentations is part of the Discovery Islands curriculum – the Persona Life Skills life challenge learning modules. Teachers with a free account can play through this module. A subscription is required to make it available to students.
