Important: Teachers should remind their students that any information they share verbally or within the Persona Life Skills platform, that is deemed a safeguarding issue – ie. where a teacher believes the student (or someone they are in contact with) may be at risk of harm – MUST be reported to the school’s safeguarding officer. After reviewing the information the safeguarding officer may pass on this information to the parent(s)/guardian, the local children safeguarding authority or, in some cases, the police.
Definition of safeguarding
Safeguarding is the action taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from abuse. Abuse has many forms: physical, sexual, psychological and emotional, and can be caused by adults (including parents and teachers), or other children and teenagers.
Whilst it is impossible to eliminate risk completely, every person who comes into contact with Persona Life Skills is responsible for creating a safe space for young people to discuss and share information.
Protecting children is the responsibility of everyone.
Commitment to safety and wellbeing
At Persona Education, young people are at the centre of what we do. And the conversations between young people (and their teachers) that we encourage, including the sharing of some personal information, cannot happen without ensuring the safety of those involved.
Within Persona Life Skills we structure every element to ensure you can participate:
-
Safely
-
Openly
-
Honestly

In the platform
Teachers will be able to access some information the student shares within the Persona Life Skills platform. This includes their Persona Profile as well as responses to questions, activities and Viewpoint sections within each Island.

In the classroom
Many learning activities within the platform encourages users to share and discuss their own feelings and experiences. This openness and honesty enables everyone to gain full insight into their own mix of personality styles, and that of others.
When encouraging users to listen and share personal thoughts and information, a level of trust within the group must be gained. This will enable everyone to feel safe.
